Hello 7th Graders,

Yesterday was quite challenging, but you folks are up to the challenge.

We learned about the 7 Stages of a Civilization, and how it applies to the U.S.
We did not finish, so we will finish today.  Please access all your prior knowledge on U.S. History.

You all came up with great ideas yesterday, so to recap,

Stage 1: Mixture was when the Europeans mixed with the indigenous people of the U.S. and eventually took it over.   I believe Riley equated this to indigenous plants being invaded by non native plants which took over.

Stage 2: Gestation -- The U.S. period as defined by all classes was either the Colonial Period, The Revolutionary war, or the signing of the Constitution.

Stage 3: Expansion -- Manifest Destiny, Louisiana Purchase, Gold Rush, Transcontinental Railroad, Lewis and Clark, or as Tosh put it "the period from the end of The Revolutionary War to the start of The Civil War.

Today we will discuss Stages 4 through 7.

Tonight your will summarize your notes.
