Today you are continuing to work on your team project about the Five Pillars of Islam.
Make sure that you include definitions and Arabic words to get the most points.
For example: Pillar one is Shahada (الشهادة). It is the belief in one God. The prayer reads like: lā ʾilāha ʾillā-llāh, muhammadun rasūlu-llāhThere is no god but God, Muhammad is the messenger of God.
Have fun with the project, but be ready to present on Friday. Keep your presentations to 3 minutes. I

October 21, 2014 #5 Pillars
Warm Up: Write a short summary on yesterday's notes on the Origins of Islam.
What guides Muslims in their daily life? What do they believe and why? You will find the answers to these on a group quest.
Go to Google Classroom. Work in teams of no more than 4, but greater than 1 to complete the questions. Be ready to present your work by Friday. You can present in a speech, skit, poster, electronic presentation, voki, animoto. Plan to have three class days to complete your work.

A big thank you to all my classes for being great representatives for LOMS while I was out.
If you were absent on Friday, please take Islam Exit Slip 1. It is on this link.

Today we are learning how Islam got started. You will need to do some research to answer the following notes. Your notes need to go on page 33 of your IAN.
Finally, I pulled this from Friday's exit slip:
The Life of a Nomad by Jesse V.
I was born in a caravan in the dry, hot summer, traveling to a town about a mile away. We got there and bought dates, clothes and water for the following journey to an oasis about 4 miles away. Along the journey, we had to kill two of our camels for food and water. We make it and buy to more camels and make camp at the oasis. It is the most beautiful oasis in all of Arabia. We pack our stuff in the morning and repeat for the rest if our lives.

Hi all,
I have been out for a few days, and I appreciate the good reports from Mr. Marshall.
You will have two exit slips between now and Monday. The first is on my web page and is due by Friday. You will have time work on it in class.
The first will be on the geography of Arabia and adaptations.
Think about sedentary vs. nomad, oasis vs. desert, souk, crossroads.
The second exit slip will be about the Origins of Islam.
Don't forget to turn in your notebook today if you have not done so.
Mr. A.
